    Uncertainty Relation and Inseparability Criterion.Ashutosh K. Goswami & Prasanta K. Panigrahi - 2017 - Foundations of Physics 47 (2):229-235.
We investigate the Peres–Horodecki positive partial transpose criterion in the context of conserved quantities and derive a condition of inseparability for a composite bipartite system depending only on the dimensions of its subsystems, which leads to a bi-linear entanglement witness for the two qubit system. A separability inequality using generalized Schrodinger–Robertson uncertainty relation taking suitable operators, has been derived, which proves to be stronger than the bi-linear entanglement witness operator. In the case of mixed density matrices, it identically distinguishes the (...)

    Clubs on quasi measurable cardinals.Ashutosh Kumar & Saharon Shelah - 2018 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 64 (1-2):44-48.
We construct a model satisfying “κ is quasi measurable”. Here, we call κ quasi measurable if there is an ℵ1‐saturated κ‐additive ideal on κ. We also show that, in this model, forcing with adds one but not κ Cohen reals. We introduce a weak club principle and use it to show that, consistently, for some ℵ1‐saturated κ‐additive ideal on κ, forcing with adds one but not κ random reals.

On possible restrictions of the null ideal.Ashutosh Kumar & Saharon Shelah - 2019 - Journal of Mathematical Logic 19 (2):1950008.
We prove that the null ideal restricted to a non-null set of reals could be isomorphic to a variety of sigma ideals. Using this, we show that the following are consistent: (1) There is a non-null subset of plane each of whose non-null subsets contains three collinear points. (2) There is a partition of a non-null set of reals into null sets, each of size [Formula: see text], such that every transversal of this partition is null.

Exploring the role of ethics in the emotional intelligence-organizational commitment relationship.Monoshree Mahanta & Karabi Goswami - 2020 - Asian Journal of Business Ethics 9 (2):275-303.
Today, organizations are facing a high rate of attrition which is a serious issue for human resource managers. Gaining the commitment of employees towards their organization, though challenging, is rewarding as organizational commitment (OC) is a precursor to employee engagement. Another challenge is about maintaining an ethical climate. Ethical misconduct by organizations not only brings them a heavy monetary price but also incurs non-monetary price in terms of customer and employee attrition and diminished business reputation. In the new workplace with (...)

Beyond format-specificity: Is analogue magnitude really the core abstract feature of the cultural number representation?Dénes Szűcs, Fruzsina Soltész & Usha Goswami - 2009 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 32 (3-4):352-353.
The issue of abstractness raises two distinct questions. First, is there a format-independent magnitude representation? Second, does analogue magnitude really play a crucial role in the development of human mathematics? We suggest that neither developmental nor cultural studies support this notion. The field needs to redefine the properties of the core number representation as used in human arithmetic.

Cpu Or Self-reference: Discerning Between Cognitive Science and Quantum Functionalist Models of Mentation.Kim Mccarthy & Amit Goswami - 1993 - Journal of Mind and Behavior 14 (1):13-26.
The quantum functionalist model of mentation provides an explanation of conscious and unconscious perception without the postulation of a central processing unit . Based on Goswami's idealist interpretation of quantum mechanics, the quantum model posits a dual quantum/classical system for the mind-brain with which consciousness is linked via self-reference. A comparative analysis of word-sense disambiguation data is conducted with a cognitive science model derived from the Posner and Snyder facilitation and inhibition and the Rummelhart, McClelland, and PDP group's parallel-distributed-processing (...)

Data privacy and security as a big challenge in current Internet of Things (IoT) applications, as with the increase in number of connecting devices, these devices are now more vulnerable to security threats. An intelligent fuzzy logic and blockchain technology is implemented for timely analysis and securing the network. The proposed design consists of various (...)

Adaptive Control Based Harvesting Strategy for a Predator–Prey Dynamical System.Moitri Sen, Ashutosh Simha & Soumyendu Raha - 2018 - Acta Biotheoretica 66 (4):293-313.
This paper deals with designing a harvesting control strategy for a predator–prey dynamical system, with parametric uncertainties and exogenous disturbances. A feedback control law for the harvesting rate of the predator is formulated such that the population dynamics is asymptotically stabilized at a positive operating point, while maintaining a positive, steady state harvesting rate. The hierarchical block strict feedback structure of the dynamics is exploited in designing a backstepping control law, based on Lyapunov theory. In order to account for unknown (...)

How (not) to be secular: reading Charles Taylor.James K. A. Smith - 2014 - Grand Rapids, Michigan: William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company.
How (Not) to Be Secular is what Jamie Smith calls "your hitchhiker's guide to the present" -- it is both a reading guide to Charles Taylor's monumental work A Secular Age and philosophical guidance on how we might learn to live in our times. Taylor's landmark book A Secular Age (2007) provides a monumental, incisive analysis of what it means to live in the post-Christian present -- a pluralist world of competing beliefs and growing unbelief. Jamie Smith's book is a (...)

Subjects that matter: philosophy, feminism, and postcolonial theory.Namita Goswami - 2019 - Albany: SUNY Press, State University of New York Press.
Argues for postcoloniality as a model for philosophical practice. In this ambitious book, Namita Goswami draws on continental philosophy, postcolonial criticism, critical race theory, and African American and postcolonial feminisms to offer postcoloniality as a model for philosophical practice. Moving among and between texts, traditions, and frameworks, including the work of Gayatri Spivak, Theodor Adorno, Barbara Christian, Paul Gilroy, Neil Lazarus, and Hortense Spillers, among others, she charts a journey that takes us beyond Eurocentrism by understanding postcoloniality as the (...)

Neonatal maturity as the key to understanding brain size evolution in homeothermic vertebrates.Vera Weisbecker & Anjali Goswami - 2011 - Bioessays 33 (3):155-158.
What parameters determine brain size? This question is of particular interest for humans because our large brains confer outstanding cognitive abilities. The answer has long been sought in comparative analyses of brain size relative to body size (herein termed ‘brain size’) in our fellow homeothermic vertebrates – namely other mammals and birds. Unfortunately, brain size is an idiosyncratic trait corresponding to a seemingly miscellaneous collection of traits ranging from gestation length to deception behaviour. Some order can be established by attributing (...)

Cognitive neuroscience aims to improve our understanding of aspects of human learning and performance by combining data acquired with the new brain imaging technologies with data acquired in cognitive psychology paradigms. Both neuroscience and psychology use the philosophical assumptions underpinning the natural sciences, namely the scientific method, whereby hypotheses are proposed and tested using quantitative approaches. The relevance of 'brain science' for the classroom has proved controversial with some educators, perhaps because of distrust of the applicability of so-called 'medical models' (...)

Leech et al.'s demonstration that analogical reasoning can be an emergent property of low-level incremental learning processes is critical for analogical theory. Along with insights into neural learning based on the salience of dynamic spatio-temporal structure, and the neural priming mechanism of repetition suppression, it establishes relational primacy as a plausible theoretical description of how brains make analogies.
